Celebrate your tiny baby turning into a toddler with an unforgettable cake smash session! Let's mark this milestone by treating them to a stylish introduction to sweetness. If cake isn't your preference, we can always explore the joy of smashing fruit, the playfulness of spaghetti, the art of finger-painting with colors, or any other creative ideas that come to mind.
We'll closely collaborate to decide on themes/colors and set expectations. Choose between classic and minimalist backdrops or themed setups. All the details will be discussed prior to booking to ensure we align with your vision. Our studio session includes all the decorations, ONE letters, cake stands, a baby chair, and a clawfoot tub for a delightful splash bath. The one-hour session is entirely focused on your baby.

+ When is the best time to schedule a cake smash session?
For the best experience I recommend booking around the 11-month mark when separation anxiety is typically lower, and most babies aren't yet walking. This timing also ensures that images can be ready before baby's first birthday. Alternatively, scheduling the session on the actual day of baby's birthday is also a fantastic idea to create an unforgettable celebration. If you've missed the milestone, don't worry; it's never too late for cake.
+ Where does the session take place?
All custom styled sessions take place in the comfort of my home studio, conveniently located on East 20th Street and 1st Ave. Crafting and perfecting each set takes considerable time and attention to detail. While outdoor shoots are an option, please note that I am unable to provide decorations or studio equipment for sessions conducted outdoors.
+ Are sibling/parents shots included?
As we celebrate your baby's first birthday, we focus exclusively on them. While I provide the choice to add-on a few parent or sibling images, it's worth noting that for some babies, this addition can be a bit overwhelming. The introduction of extra stimulation then separation may pose a challenge for them to fully engage in the session afterward. I recommend opting for the add-on only if you believe your baby can comfortably handle the extra stretch.
+ Are the decorations included?
Your studio session comes complete with decorations, and also featuring ONE letters, balloons, cake stands, and a clawfoot tub for the splash bath. We've got all the charming details covered to make your session truly special and memorable.
+ Do I need to bring the cake?
Although I'm unable to personally handle cake orders due to allergy liability, I've established close partnerships with talented bakers who offer delivery services. Alternatively, I can guide you in the right direction to order or create the perfect cake for your session. We will collaborate to ensure every detail, including the cake, contributes to a wonderful and personalized experience.
+ How long does the session last?
Sessions typically range between 35 to 60 minutes, and the pace of the session is guided by your baby's comfort and needs. The experience includes a variety of birthday portraits, the much-anticipated cake smash and concludes with a cheerful splash bath, creating a memorable full-circle celebration.
+ What happens if my baby is sick?
To ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience for everyone involved, it's essential to prioritize the well-being of your little one. If your child is unwell, rescheduling the session is a must, as a sick child may not fully enjoy the experience, and not every crust or runny nose can be corrected in post-production. Additionally, maintaining a high level of safety is crucial, especially for newborns who will be photographed in the following days. We are committed to being extra diligent, and with any indication of illness or exposure, we will promptly reschedule our shoot. Your baby's health and safety are our top priorities.
+ Are the images retouched?
Each portrait in your private online gallery, consisting of 30-60 unique images, comes complete with professional post-processing and artistic editing and retouching.
+ How much should I budget for the session?
A Creative Fee of $395 ($545 on weekends) is paid to secure your date. It covers the Photographer's time and talent, pre-consultation via phone or email, a customized styled session, use of props, and professional post-processing with artistic editing for your exclusive online gallery. Please note, the creative fee does not cover prints, products, or digital images, which are available for purchase through digital collections and/or à la Carte options. Clients typically invest between $795 and $1800 in images from their personalized photography session. For detailed pricing information, feel free to contact the studio.
+ Why is the creative fee different on weekends?
As a mom to two kids who are in school during the week, weekends are the only time I get to cherish with them. Consequently, my weekend schedule is limited and tends to book up quickly.
+ Are you vaccinated?
Absolutely! I am current with my TdaP vaccine, receive yearly flu shots, and have been fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID.
